About Dr. Cohen
Over the 25 years that I have been in practice, I have steadfastly held to my conviction that there is never an end to knowledge, and that our understanding of each other, and ourselves is fluid and evolving…always. From this position, I have strived to maintain a humility and interest in learning from my patients, and their challenges.
My own approaches have developed from my interest in exploring and learning along a broad and varied pathway: from a longstanding interest in psychology, philosophy, and the sciences, to research at the National Institutes of Mental Health, to training in and practicing psychopharmacology, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and a variety of psychotherapies (psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, and cognitive behavioral therapies among others).
I have maintained a practice that is defined by a desire to thoroughly understand my patients, and help them address their concerns constructively and collaboratively. Therefore, I offer psychopharmacologic consultation and treatment, transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy (TMS), as well as psychotherapy for adults and older adolescents who have a variety of concerns and problems.
It is important to understand that I see our work as a collaboration, and attempt to tailor that work to suit the unique concerns of each person. I want you to know that my goal is to provide an opportunity for my patients to effectively address their needs, and that this may include medication intervention and treatment, and/or psychotherapy. Often, I also collaborate with other therapists, primary care physicians, or medical specialists if it is appropriate and beneficial.
