Holistic Living

Mental Health, Patient Care

What does holistic living mean?

Living a holistic lifestyle can be interpreted in many ways and can be unique to each person. Essentially, it means looking at oneself as a whole being, instead of compartmentalizing. Through this lens, there is an acknowledgement of interconnectedness of various facets of health: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Each blend with one another and affect us no matter how much we try to separate them. Holistic living brings balance and understanding of health from all perspectives. Yes, there are many misconceptions about holistic lifestyles; but when implemented you see that it is solely about living your best, fullest, most whole life.

Why is it important?

We are constantly told that living a holistic lifestyle is important and beneficial. While people are living longer, they are also experiencing chronic levels of stress and fatigue, consuming nutrient depleted foods, and exposed to hundreds of potentially harmful chemicals in environment/daily products. Along with added situational stressors, this can all contribute to health complications and various illnesses. With all these obstacles, it can be easy to find ourselves disconnected.

Adopting a holistic approach to your body, mind and soul, can help support our beings from these uncontrollable stressors. It can also benefit your relationships, make you more patient, understanding, loving, and generally help you to become more present in your daily life. When you live holistically, you are showing up each day in a way that is congruent with your deepest values and goals.
